Richmond has named three AFLW debutants and a total of seven new Tigers for tomorrow night’s season opener against St Kilda in Frankston.

The Tigers’ first three selections at last year’s AFL Women’s National Draft, Stella Reid, Emelia Yassir and Meagan Kiely, have all been named to play their first games.

Off-season recruits Poppy Kelly, Maddie Shevlin and Jess Hosking and recent acquisition Beth Lynch will also make their Richmond debuts tomorrow night.

Reid (No. 5 overall in the 2021 AFLW draft) is a rangy half-forward from the Oakleigh Chargers capable of playing in the midfield. The 18-year-old has displayed excellent aerial ability across the pre-season and can find targets with her classy left foot kicking.

Yassir, a zippy forward, will offer plenty of excitement in the front half, while inside-midfielder Kiely enters her debut game in strong form after being the Tigers’ best in the Club’s only practice match against Geelong.

Shevlin, Hosking and Lynch will provide extra AFLW experience to the back-half, while ruck Kelly will go up against her former St Kilda teammates after crossing to Richmond over the off-season.

All Australian Tigers, Katie Brennan and Monique Conti, have been named, as have vice-captains Harriet Cordner and Sarah Hosking, with Hosking overcoming a quad complaint in time for the game.

Tessa Lavey, who is currently juggling WNBL and AFLW commitments, has been named on the wing and is set to play her first football game since Round 8 last year, having competed at the Tokyo Olympics in-between.

Kodi Jacques and Meg Macdonald have been named as emergencies.

Tomorrow night’s game will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Kayo from 7pm.
