Richmond has the two most potent tall forwards in the competition, after five rounds of the 2013 season.
The combination of Jack Riewoldt (16 goals) and Luke McGuane (11 goals) has netted 27 goals for the Tigers, which is one ahead of their nearest rivals – Hawthorn pair Lance Franklin and Jarrad Roughead, along with West Coast duo Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling, who are equal second.
At the corresponding stage last season, Richmond’s two leading tall goalkickers were Brad Miller, who had 10 goals, and Riewoldt, with eight goals.
Throw Ty Vickery into the goalkicking mix (nine goals in five games, compared to five in five this time last year) and the Tigers are ranked equal third in terms of the output of the top three goalscorers at each club.
Riewoldt, McGuane and Vickery have kicked 36 goals between them, which is just two behind the competition’s leaders – Hawthorn’s trio of Franklin, Roughead and Cyril Rioli, on 38.
