Richmond will not pursue young Brisbane Lions forward Josh Schache, says Tigers football manager Dan Richardson.

Schache signed a two-year contract extension with the Lions mid-season, but speculation about his future continued after he missed the club's NEAFL Grand Final to return to Victoria. 

Richmond has been linked to Schache, but Richardson told SEN on Wednesday morning it would not chase the 20-year-old in the upcoming NAB AFL Trade Period.

"I don't think so," Richardson said. 

"Our focus this year will be predominantly to retain our two first round picks, we have an opportunity with a father-son prospect in Patrick Naish, so there's a few balls in the air there in terms of what we do.

"I'd imagine at this point we're pretty comfortable retaining our picks in this year's draft."

Schache has played 27 games in two seasons for the Lions, including 10 this year – a season in which he was dropped twice. 

Richardson also confirmed the Tigers had spoken to Jake Stringer's management, but said the talented Bulldog did not fit into their plans.

"You're always looking at who's available and whether or not they're the right option and fill out a need on your list 

"We probably felt in the end that Jake's not quite filling a specific need for us, albeit he's a very good player.

"We think with the likes of Cotchin and Dusty being able to play that midfield-forward role with a couple of young players coming through, we've got that covered reasonably well."
