Richmond premiership ruckman Ivan Soldo has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of 2024.

Soldo, the Tigers’ No. 1 ruckman for most of 2020, missed the entire 2021 season with a knee injury.

The 25-year-old, who is expected to have a full pre-season having completed his rehab, has played 36 AFL games for the Tigers.

Soldo was recruited to Richmond as a Category B Rookie late in the 2014 season as a soccer and basketball convert.

The 204cm ruckman developed his craft at VFL level for the Tigers across four seasons before establishing himself as an important part of the side in the premiership-winning 2019 campaign.

Having developed into an excellent senior contributor, Soldo was a hard-luck story of last year’s premiership, suffering his knee injury late in the season.

Soldo had been terrific throughout the year, averaging 20.8 hit outs, 7.7 disposals and 2.7 tackles across 14 shortened games.

Richmond General Manager- Football Talent, Blair Hartley said that Soldo’s return to the playing field would be exciting for the Club.

“Across more than seven years at Richmond, Ivan has shown an outstanding work ethic and willingness to improve his game.

“His knee injury late last year was very unfortunate, but he has worked hard throughout this season to put himself in a position to return strongly in 2022.

“Ivan is a key member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next year.”
