Richmond snapped up exciting forward Jasper Alger with its eighth selection, No. 58 overall, in the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft after trading a future fourth round selection with Gold Coast.
Alger, who was one of the youngest players in the Draft, was a Richmond player for close to a month before his 18th birthday on December 17.
He had a strong season playing for Oakleigh Chargers and Caulfield Grammar in 2024.
The then 17-year-old from Warragul was also a solid contributor across four games playing for Vic Country, including a three-goal haul against South Australia, and two against Western Australia.
Alger averaged 10.8 disposals and 2.7 tackles for the Chargers, and across all competitions booted 48 goals from 17 games this season.
