Rising Richmond small forward Rhyan Mansell has been keeping a close eye on Tiger draftee Jasper Alger throughout the pre-season – and he likes what he’s seen.

Alger, an 18-year-old small forward, was Richmond’s eighth pick (No. 58 overall) in the 2024 AFL national draft.

Originally from Warragul, Alger played for Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League last season, as well as school football with Caulfield Grammar, and he also represented Vic Country at the under-18 championships.

Across all those competitions in 2024, he kicked 48 goals from 17 games.

Mansell is excited about Alger’s potential.

“He’s developing really well. The longer he is at the Club the better he’s getting,” Mansell said on the latest episode of the Talking Tigers podcast.

“I think fans, it won’t take too long for them to see him out on the big oval.

“He’s very smart around goals. He’ll kick a few.”
