Young was cruelly struck down by an ACL injury while playing in the VFL last season.
It came after he commenced the campaign in the AFL lineup having impressed in 19 games in 2023 when winning Bill Cosgrove/Harry Jenkins Best First-Year player award.
The former North Albury and Frankston VFL defender, who will look to return in the middle of 2025, is contracted with Richmond until the end of the year.
