Exciting youngster Hugo Ralphsmith will make his AFL debut in Saturday night’s Round 9 clash against GWS at Marvel Stadium.
The 19-year-old, who is in his second year at Tigerland after being selected with the 46th pick in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft, has earned his senior call-up after an impressive start to the season.
While stalled by a minor ankle injury and suspension in recent times, Ralphsmith was excellent for Richmond across the pre-season and early VFL practice matches.
The former East Brighton, Sandringham (NAB League) and Haileybury College student was also Richmond’s best in the most recent VFL contest, gathering 19 disposals and providing dash in a heavy loss for the Tigers.
Ralphsmith joins Rhyan Mansell, Will Martyn and Riley Collier-Dawkins as Tigers to make their AFL debut this year.
The 188cm talent has excellent endurance, is a long kick, and can take an overhead mark. He is also versatile and can be used across the wing, half-forward, or half-back.
Ralphsmith is the son of former St Kilda and Hawthorn player Sean. He will wear the number 45 guernsey on Saturday.
