Other Tiger-related tidbits: Richmond played an exhibition match against Carlton at the venue as part of the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games, 11 days after losing the ’82 Grand Final to the Blues by 18 points. A Gabba crowd of about 15,000, and an TV audience of several million, saw Richmond beat Carlton by that same margin of 18 points in a goalscoring frenzy – 28.16 (184) to 26.10 (166). Tiger superstar Maurice Rioli, who won the Norm Smith Medal for being best-on-ground in the Grand Final, was B.O.G. again.
