Shai Bolton further enhanced his reputation as a clearance specialist in Richmond’s Round 5 win against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium last Thursday night.
The exciting, young, dual premiership Tiger had a game-high eight clearances, including three centre clearances among his 29 disposals, along with five inside-50s, five marks, one goal, eight score involvements and 431 metres gained.
He contributed significantly to the Tigers winning the clearances in the match 44 to 28.
After five rounds of the 2021 season, Bolton is Richmond’s No. 1 ranked clearance and centre-clearance player.
Given the importance of clearances in AFL football today, Bolton’s value to the Tigers’ team is immense.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick acknowledged Bolton’s key on-field influence during his post-match press conference last Thursday night.
“You’ve only got to see the talent that Shai has. When he gets to work, he’s a really, really impressive player to watch, and impressive player to be a part of,” Hardwick said.
