Duncan Kellaway, Will Martyn, Rhyan Mansell and Neville Roberts ahead of last Friday night's match.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is confident the Tigers’ two young debutants in last Friday night’s Round 4 clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval – midfielder Will Martyn and defender Rhyan Mansell – will gain plenty from the experience.

Martyn finished the match with 12 disposals and 165 metres gained in 57 percent time on the ground, while Mansell had nine disposals, six intercepts and 216 metres gained in his 69 percent game time.

“It was a fair initiation. You couldn’t pick a tougher game to play your first game in,” Hardwick said.

“The speed of the game out there is breakneck. They’re coming from a development level that’s a long way off the speed of AFL games, so it takes a little bit of time.

“The reality is it’s a tough game.

“But they showed enough for us . . .

“They’ll learn a lot from it, they’ll get better, and we’re really excited about what they’re going to bring going forward.”
