Four standout Richmond players have been named in the 2021 AFLW All-Australian squad named tonight.

Harriet Cordner, Ellie McKenzie, Monique Conti and Katie Brennan have been named in the 40-woman squad.

Conti has been named in the squad for the fourth consecutive season, while the competition's No.1 draft pick from last year, McKenzie, is the youngest player in the squad.

A final team of 21 players including a captain and vice-captain, will be announced at the W Awards held on Tuesday, April 20.

Star Tiger trio McKenzie, Conti and Brennan also capped off their outstanding 2021 campaigns by receiving votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player Award across the final two rounds.

McKenzie was adjudged best on ground in the coaches' eyes for the second game in a row in Round 8 by receiving nine votes in the gritty win over West Coast.

The 18-year-old showed her outstanding contested ability in that game with 21 disposals, including 17 contested on a wet day at the Swinburne Centre.

McKenzie’s ferocious ball-winning display against the Eagles further proved the special talent's all-round ability. The number one draft pick is mostly noted for her excellent athleticism, speed and foot skills, though at a good size of 176cm, she is also capable of playing at a key position or as a big-bodied inside midfielder.

Conti (eight votes against West Coast) was rewarded for another vintage display, winning the ball at will across the middle of the ground.

The 21-year-old ended the season with a club-high 47 AFLCA Champion Player Votes to finish eighth in the competition, just 15 votes off the winner Kiara Bowers.

Captain Katie Brennan (three and four votes) was the sole Tiger to poll in each of Richmond’s final two games, while Bec Miller (two votes against the Bulldogs) also caught the eye of at least one coach.

Brennan, who finished the season with 25 AFLCA votes, 14 goals (second in the competition), and 13 contested marks (third in the AFLW), won praise from Richmond Senior Coach Ryan Ferguson following final round loss to the Bulldogs.

“It did not come easy for her (this year). She had to work her way into form while leading this group,” he explained.

“It really showed what a quality player and person she is. It has been a ripping effort.”

Brennan was excellent against her former side, booting a game-high three goals, including two in the third quarter to give the Tigers a chance after a poor first half.
