Valuable Richmond midfielder Daniel Jackson and talented, young defender Dylan Grimes have signed contract extensions with the Club.

Jackson, 27, and Grimes, 22, will remain at Tigerland until at least the end of the 2015 season.

The pair’s commitment adds to the list of Tiger players who have extended their contracts so far this season, including Jack Riewoldt, Trent Cotchin, Alex Rance, Brandon Ellis, Nick Vlastuin, Chris Newman and Jake King.

“It’s encouraging to see that Daniel and Dylan, along with many of their teammates already this season, have committed to achieving team success at Richmond,” said the Tigers’ General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.

“Daniel is reaping the rewards of hard work over an extended period and, alongside his football ability, his strong leadership skills have been instrumental in developing our young midfielders.

“Dylan has had some bad luck with injury, but he has outstanding qualities and we believe he will be a mainstay in the Richmond team for a long time to come.”

Jackson is enjoying one of his most consistent seasons in the Yellow and Black –  his 10th at Tigerland since making his AFL debut in 2004.

He has played every game in season 2013 so far, averaging 22 disposals, five marks and four tackles, and he is ranked No. 2 at the Club for inside-50s.

And, he is adding goalkicking nous to his already strong reputation as a hard-nosed midfielder, with his 12 goals so far this year surpassing his previous best in a single season.

Grimes is on the verge of a return to the senior team after a foot injury halted a promising start to the 2013 season.

In his 22 games for Richmond so far, the promising defender has proven that he is a vital component of Richmond’s back six.

At the end of 2012, Grimes was voted into the Tigers’ playing leadership group, which also contains Jackson, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Brett Deledio and Ivan Maric.
