Our Club’s stories paint pictures of the generations of Tiger Faithful who have kept Richmond alive for over 135 years. Today we pay our respects to Eric ‘Dude’ Rose, a Neville Crowe’s Legacy member whose final gift will extend his lifetime of support for the Club he loved.
Dude was a Wintringham resident, a specialised home and not-for-profit welfare organisation that provides housing and care to elderly, frail men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Wintringham was created to address the scourge of elderly homelessness.
At Dude’s funeral in December 2020 his nurses Mary-Anne and Jenny spoke of his love and appreciation for the people that cared for him, a dedicated group of individuals that helped provide Dude with many happy experiences, including a visit with the players at Punt Road in 2019, an absolute highlight.
Mary-Anne said “It was an absolute pleasure to have worked with Dude, and I will certainly think of him often and remember the things he taught me along the way – kindness, resilience, patience, joy and laughter with quite a bit of cheekiness thrown in.” Jenny reflected on the team that cared for Dude “He knew we would always be around for him and was always happy to chat with us, usually about how well the Tigers were doing!”
Gifts in Wills assist the Club in continuing to create an exciting future of success and premierships for generations to come. Off-the field we are champions of inclusion, diversity and developing people to achieve their goals; Dude’s gift will ensure the Club can continue to provide a positive environment that is shaping and supporting the lives of so many, both on and off the field.
If you would like to know more about giving through a gift in your Will like Dude has, please reach out via sending an email to bequests@richmondfc.com.au and we’ll send you an information booklet.
