Richmond has made two changes to its AFLW lineup for tomorrow afternoon’s Midsumma game against Collingwood.
Basketball cross-coder Tessa Lavey will come in for her AFLW debut, while youngster Sarah Sansonetti has been selected for her first game of 2021.
The pair replace Christina Bernardi and Akec Makur Chuot, who have been omitted.
Lavey, 27, will become the third AFLW debutant for the Tigers this year, completing the 2020 AFLW National Draft crop, with Ellie McKenzie (pick 1) and Luka Lesosky-Hay (pick 53) each debuting in Round 1.
Sansonetti, 19, did not miss a game in her debut 2020 season last year and will get her chance this week after being selected as an emergency for each of the two opening rounds.
The rangy defender showed her rebounding capabilities with an impressive 20 disposals against Gold Coast SUNS at Metricon Stadium in Round 2 last year.
The contest, to be broadcast live on Channel 7 and FOX FOOTY, will be the first meeting between the two traditional rivals, Richmond, and Collingwood in the AFL Women's competition.
The Tigers have started the 2021 season with losses to foundation sides Brisbane and Melbourne, while the Magpies are undefeated from their two encounters against Carlton and Geelong.
