Tessa Lavey will make her AFLW debut for Richmond against Collingwood at the Swinburne Centre on Sunday.
Lavey, 27, was selected with Richmond’s second pick (No. 43 overall) at the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Draft.
The cross-coder, who is a current star of the WNBL, an Olympian, and a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, was terrific in Port Melbourne VFLW’s intraclub match last week, kicking two goals and providing plenty of run for her teammates.
Lavey, who joined the rest of the AFLW squad in January following the completion of the WNBL season and Australian Opals training camp, has impressed with her speed, power, and work rate.
The 172cm utility has also improved her skills and football fundamentals considerably since initially working with Richmond AFLW forwards and specialist coach Nathan Chapman in the lead up to the draft.
Lavey, who hails from Swan Hill, will wear the number 37 jumper on Sunday.
The Sunday afternoon clash will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and FOX FOOTY from 3.00pm.
The full teams will be released tomorrow at 5.30pm.
