Talented utility Shane Edwards is confident the hard-fought wins Richmond secured during the AFL’s pre-season series will produce a positive flow-on effect for the team going into the 2013 premiership season.
The Tigers finished their pre-season campaign with a nine-point victory over the Western Bulldogs at Visy Park last Saturday. Previous to that, they beat Hawthorn by one point, Essendon by eight points and Melbourne by 15 points.

“It’s been a good preparation leading into Round 1 and a reflection of how hard we’ve worked in the pre-season,” Edwards said.
“Coming from behind in a few of them is a good experience.”
Richmond struggled to overcome a determined Bulldog outfit in wet conditions last Saturday, but Edwards was upbeat with the end result.
“We lost uncontested ball, which is something we pride ourselves on. But it’s a good sign that we came from behind and got a win not playing the best football,” he said.
All Tiger eyes now turn to the traditional opening round clash with Carlton, at the MCG on Thursday, March 28 . . .
“You look forward to it as soon as the season finishes. It’s been long awaited. We’ve done all the work, so we just need to put it out on the park,” he said.
“We’ve got a healthy list to pick from, the guys are looking fit, and we’re ready to test out what we’ve learned (over the pre-season).”
