Richmond utility Nick Vlastuin will be sidelined for three to four weeks after scans revealed he has a fractured scapula.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury in the second quarter of Saturday night’s match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
Richmond’s Physical Performance Manager, Peter Burge, confirmed the injury.
“Nick came off the ground with some soreness behind his right shoulder, we scanned him and he’s got a small fracture in his scapula, which is going to require some time out unfortunately,” Burge said.
Burge said Tigers’ midfielder Dion Prestia, who missed the Round 7 clash with hamstring soreness, would be assessed later this week.
“Dion pulled up with some hamstring soreness from the Adelaide game last week,” Burge said.
“He’s running at the moment, it’s really just a case of seeing how he is later in the week, at this stage it’s a 50-50 call.”
In further injury news at Punt Road Oval, forward Shane Edwards will be available for selection this week after injuring his hip in Round 2.
“Shane Edwards has been out for five weeks and he’s been training for the last week,” Burge said.
“He’ll resume skills training with the main group this week and he should be available to play providing all goes well this week.”
Young Tiger Jacob Townsend will also return to the track after injuring his eye in the VFL Tigers’ Round 3 match against Port Melbourne.
“He got a really nasty poke in the eye and was told he had to have a week of no exercise,” Burge said.
“He had a little bit of internal bleeding in the eyeball itself, but (Richmond Club doctor Greg Hickey) has given him the all clear to train this week and we expect him to play.”
Reece Conca (sprain of the mid-foot) and Jack Graham (ankle) are expected to be sidelined for four to five weeks.
