AFTER missing Richmond's stunning win over Port Adelaide on Saturday, skipper Trent Cotchin and key forward Ty Vickery are expected to return to the team for the round eight clash against Melbourne at the MCG.

Cotchin missed the Port game with a sore knee after hyperextending it against Fremantle in round five.

The Richmond captain played against Geelong the following week but bone bruising restricted his output and the Tigers decided to give him and the knee a week off.

The knee is considered structurally sound and was just sore.

Vickery also missed the Tigers' 41-point win with the concussion he sustained against the Cats.

He trained late last week and is expected to be available to face the Demons.

The availability of Dylan Grimes (foot) and Ricky Petterd (calf) will be determined later in the week.

Both were listed as one to two weeks away last Tuesday but will need to prove their fitness before Sunday.

Shane Tuck underwent surgery on Monday to repair the fractured scapula he sustained against Port.

He is expected to miss between six to eight weeks, and will have Chris Knights for company in the rehab group after the former Crow had surgery to fix the patella tendon he tore on Saturday.

"It's obviously disappointing news for the team and for them," general manager of football Dan Richardson told AFL.com.au on Monday.

"Hopefully they can get themselves right but it's obviously going to be long-term for them.

"Chris had been in good form too. We'll just get around him and support him now."

Nathan Foley, who played his first senior game since round 10 last year and came on as the substitute when Knights was injured in the second quarter, pulled up well, as did Ivan Maric, who entered under an injury cloud after hurting his ankle against Geelong.
