Richmond has bolstered its ruck/forward stocks by landing Sydney Swans big man, Toby Nankervis in the 2016 Trade Period on a three-year contract.
Richmond have secured the 22-year-old in exchange for the Club’s third round, pick 46 in this year’s National AFL Draft, after Nankervis requested a move to Richmond late in the trade period.
Originally from Tasmania, the 199cm ruck/forward was drafted from North Launceston Football Club with the Swans’ second round selection, (no. 35 overall) in the 2013 National AFL Draft.

He played seven senior games in season 2016, including the Swans winning semi-final against the Adelaide Crows, to extend his career total to 12 AFL matches.
“We’re really pleased to welcome Toby to the Club; while only 22 years of age he’s a strong and competitive ruckman/forward, which is really exciting,” Dan Richardson, Richmond’s General Manager – Football Talent said.
“Going into the trade period, we identified a need to add to our ruck/forward stocks and Toby absolutely fits this criteria.
“While we respect that it was a difficult decision for him to leave the Swans, after a number of discussions with Toby and his manager Paul Koutoufides, we are pleased he has decided to join Richmond.
“Toby has already shown an ability to impact at AFL level, and we see him playing a valuable role for us in 2017 and beyond."
Richmond currently hold picks 24, 27, 64, 82 and 100 in the 2016 National AFL Draft.
