Richmond is mourning the passing of 1980 premiership General Manager Richard Doggett, who was killed in an accident on his northern New South Wales property.
Doggett had two stints as the Tigers’ General Manager – from 1979-80 and 1986-88.
He also served as the Club’s Treasurer in 1979-80.
After leaving Tigerland the second time, Doggett had a stint as executive at Conrad Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast.
In recent years, he had been heavily involved in the Macadamia nut industry. He was a Macadamia grower on his property and Chairman of the Australian Macadamia Society.
Tomorrow (September 27) is the 40th anniversary of Richmond’s 1980 Grand Final triumph.
The Club sends its deepest sympathy to Richard’s family and friends.
Sadness continues as we celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the 1980 premiership with the passing of our GM Richard Doggett in a tragic farm accident .

He was a fine person and a great support to me as a player and coach. A vibrant personality with a friendly smile RIP. Kb
Absolutely shocked to hear Richard Doggett has died in a farming accident in NSW.

London-born, he was Richmond's 1980 Premiership General Manager, and again in 87/88.
It was only in January this year I interviewed him.
