Tom Lynch and Jack Riewoldt are locked in the closest race for Richmond’s leading goalkicker award, the Michael Roach Medal, since 2009.
That year, West Coast recruit Mitch Morton captured the Michael Roach Medal with 41 goals – nine ahead of the then 20-year-old Riewoldt, who booted 32 goals.
It’s been one-way traffic on the Tigers’ goalkicking front from then until now, with Riewoldt comprehensively winning nine in-a-row (2010-18), before Lynch bolted in last season, scoring 63 goals (Dustin Martin next best on 32 goals).
After 15 games this season, Lynch leads Riewoldt by just five goals – 27 to 22.
Richmond currently has six players that have kicked 10 goals or more this season – Lynch, Riewoldt, Martin 14, Jake Aarts 12, Shai Bolton 12 and Jason Castagna 12.
