Richmond veteran Daniel Jackson says the evolution of Richmond’s on-field performance is just part of the plan of senior coach Damien Hardwick.

Jackson, 27, a member of Richmond’s leadership group and the Club’s AFLPA representative, put the Tigers’ recent form down to having patience in Hardwick’s initial philosophy, which he introduced when he arrived at the Club in 2009.

“When ‘Dimma’ took over four years ago, he started us on what was always going to be a long journey, and he made that clear for us at the start,” Jackson said on Fox Footy’s ‘On the Couch’ program on Monday night.

“We understood that there was going to be a lot of outside pressure, but he made it clear we needed to be patient and do the little things right.”

Jackson, who kicked three goals in the Tigers’ 64-point win over St Kilda, is having one of his best seasons of his 10-year AFL career, said Richmond’s improvement couldn’t be attributed to any one thing.

“I think what’s different over the course of the last 12 months, and especially this year, is that we have confidence in those processes that he’s (Hardwick) put in place,” he said.

“That’s something that I haven’t felt before, that if we do what we need to do, we’re going to win.”
