Star Richmond key forward Jack Riewoldt continued his strong resurgence from a slow start following the 2020 season resumption with an impressive display in last night’s 21-point victory over Gold Coast at the Gabba.
Riewoldt took eight marks, three of them inside the Tigers’ forward-50 area, had four inside-50s, kicked two goals in the low-scoring contest, had an equal game-high six score involvements, and 335 metres gained.
The dual Richmond premiership hero and triple Coleman Medallist has kicked nine goals in his past three games (four v Brisbane, Round 10, three v Port Adelaide, Round 11 and two v Gold Coast, Round 12), after managing just six goals in the eight games before then upon the season’s resumption on June 11.
Significantly, Riewoldt seems to have the spring back in his legs and he’s flying for marks with customary confidence.
“I’m just enjoying playing footy,” Riewoldt told ‘Fox Footy’ in a post-match interview last night.
“I probably struggled a little bit to adjust to hub life being away from home and having a whole lot of things going through my head. I feel really comfortable where I’m at, at the moment.
“The group’s playing well and clearly, as a forward, you rely a little bit on supply.
“So it’s just good to get on the scoreboard and also get up the ground and take a few marks.
“I thought tonight it was probably my best game in the air, which is something I pride myself on.
“Been doing a lot of hard work with Craig McRae and Adam Kingsley, as well, to work on my forward craft. So, probably just rediscovering that a little bit.”
