Matthew Richardson previews Wednesday night's Round 9 clash against the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium.

The Dogs have won every game this season where they’ve been ahead in the contested ball tally. Conversely, their losses against the Pies, Saints and Carlton came when they lost contested possession. The Bulldogs’ handball-chain game plan stems from their ability to win it at the coalface.

2. The Richmond way

Richmond’s renowned pressure is starting to reach the level of previous seasons. Connection inside 50 and the ability to attack efficiently at pace are the final components the Tigers will be looking to refine ahead of a tough month of footy.

3. Noah Balta development

The development of young defender, Noah Balta, has been fast-tracked over the last four weeks. Stepping into Dave Astbury’s role, Balta hasn’t looked out of his depth taking on the opposition’s number one forward, keeping Ben Brown and Jeremy Cameron goalless over the last two games.
