With the start of the AFL’s annual trade period now just one week away, Richmond’s focus turns to striking a deal with Gold Coast in exchange for talented midfielder Dion Prestia, who has nominated Tigerland as his preferred new football home.
“List management this time of the year is obviously crucial, and the number one priority is Dion Prestia, who is keen to come here,” the Tigers’ recently-appointed General Manager – Football, Neil Balme, told ‘Roar Vision’.
“We’re really pleased that he’s made that decision, and we’ll be doing everything to make sure that happens . . .
“That’s one of the things we’ll be making work.”
Prestia, who turns 24 next week (October 12), was taken by the Suns at pick nine overall in the 2010 National Draft after starring at TAC Cup level with the Calder Cannons, and also representing Vic Metro at the under-18 championships that year.
He has played 95 games, kicked 30 goals, and averaged 23.5 disposals per match in his six-season league career with Gold Coast.
In 2013, Prestia was runner-up in the Suns’ Best and Fairest award, and he was third the following year.
For the past three seasons, he served as a vice-captain of the Gold Coast’s team.
