Richmond rates its 2011 fixture challenging, but exciting.

The Tigers face four of this year’s finalists - Carlton, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Collingwood - in the opening four rounds of the season, all at the MCG.

But they don’t play away from the ‘G’ or Etihad Stadium until Round 10, don’t have to travel to Geelong, and have considerably less Sunday games than in 2010, which should please the Tiger faithful.

“It is a challenging draw from a football perspective, but while our young team is evolving, they will benefit from playing in some big games, particularly early in the season,” said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.

“We think it is a really good fixture for our members, supporters and corporate partners, given the fact that we play a large number of games at the MCG, and have more Friday night and Saturday games, which our fans will appreciate.

“The number of interstate games we have later in the season will provide us with a great opportunity to build our brand nationally, and expose our young group to travel, which is a reality of modern-day football.

“We are really excited about what lies ahead for the Club.  Although there is a lot of hard work to be done, this fixture will enable us to build on the foundations we have laid.”
