Richmond went close to its record of most club Brownlow votes in a season at Monday night’s 2012 medal count.

The Tigers finished with a total of 83 votes, which was just three short of their record set in 2001 (the last time they made the finals) of 86 votes.

In that year, Richmond also had a record number of 13 players polling votes, which was just one ahead of the 12 Tigers, who got their names on the 2012 Brownlow voting board.

Richmond finished a highly-creditable equal fifth in this season’s club-by-club votes, alongside the West Coast Eagles.

The four teams, who polled more total votes than the Tigers, were the 2012 preliminary finalists - Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide and Collingwood.

The full list of club-by-club 2012 Brownlow votes is:
95 - Sydney
92 - Hawthorn

85 - Collingwood
83 - Richmond, West Coast
79 - Geelong

69 - North Melbourne
63 - Essendon
55 - Brisbane
43 - Gold Coast
40 - Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs
27 - Melbourne
22 - Greater Western Sydney

Meanwhile, while all Tiger eyes, understandably, were on Trent Cotchin throughout Monday night’s 2012 Brownlow Medal count, with the star midfielder storming home to finish runner-up to Essendon’s Jobe Watson, there were some other impressive Richmond performances this year in the game’s most prestigious individual award.

In a further show of how much Brett Deledio thrived in his full-time shift back into the Tigers’ midfield, he polled 13 Brownlow votes, to comfortably top his previous best result in the medal count of eight, which was in 2008.

Hard-running, Shaun Grigg, in his second season with Richmond, picked up a personal-best 11 Brownlow votes - 10 better than his previous one and only medal vote that he received in 2011.

And, it also was a P.B. for valuable veteran midfielder, Shane Tuck, who polled 10 votes, eclipsing the eight he scored in 2005.
