Richmond midfielder Daniel Jackson has been nominated for the inaugural Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

Jackson is one of only three finalists for the prestigious award to be presented by Brian Stynes, brother of Jim Stynes, at tonight’s Brownlow Medal count.

The award, which honours Jim Stynes’ commitment to service and leadership in the community, will be presented to the current-day league player who demonstrates the same values.

Jackson, who is a member of Richmond’s leadership group, has committed himself to a number of community organisations throughout 2012.

He has a strong passion and dedication towards helping Australia’s youth, and is heavily involved with organisations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Headspace, En-Masse and Step Back Think.

The recipient of the award is selected by a panel of seven, including AFL Commissioner, Justice Linda Dessau, (Chair of the selection panel), AFL Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Demetriou, Sam Stynes (Jim’s wife) and 3AW presenter Neil Mitchell.

“The AFL is proud of the three finalists’ outstanding contribution to the community, each demonstrating true leadership and initiative,” Demetriou said.

Winner of the inaugural Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award will receive $20,000 from the AFL to donate to the charity or community program of their choice.

The Club congratulates Daniel on being selected as a finalist and wishes him luck in the award presentation at tonight’s Brownlow Medal.
