Trade Week is over and we have acquired two new players to boost the team for 2012. The first is Steven Morris who is said to be a defensively minded smaller backman although he has been used in various positions over his career. It would be great if he could do two things for us - stick like glue to small forwards like Milne, Betts and Stevie Johnson who we always seem to struggle to find a defensive match up for and hopefully he will also free up Deledio to play as a midfielder going forward. Deledio is such a skillful player that we would all love to see him coming out of the centre square delivering  the ball with precision to Riewoldt and Vickery in front of goal.

Hopefully we get the right back six players all fit and playing well at the same time for next season and Deledio can become a midfielder.

The second player to be picked up in trade week was the ruckman from Adelaide Ivan Maric. I haven’t seen much of Maric but his highlight reel makes it look as though he is very mobile and a strong mark up forward as well as a good tap ruckman. Hopefully he will be desperate to cement a place as our No. 1 ruckman and will work hard in the pre-season to be fit and read to work with our talented midfield.

Perhaps his presence will also bring out the best in Graham, Browne and Derickx as they fight to earn a place in the firsts. A great ruckman is so vital in today’s game and we really need to have someone step up quite dramatically in 2012.

We traded Mitch Morton to Sydney. I hope he does well there and makes the most of this third opportunity. He has plenty of talent and flair but you have to be consistent and hard at the ball game in and game out these days and fit enough to play out every game. We will certainly miss his spectacular marks and brilliant snaps at goal.

Nason and Farmer were delisted as were the rookies on our list although a couple will probably be picked up again in draft week. We have to be tough and ruthless with the list if we want to start making finals again. I am sure Dimma knows what players can make it and who can take us forward.

The new logo takes a bit of getting used to. It looks pretty good when Dustin Martin is wearing it anyway! I am sure it will grow on the Tigers fans and it certainly is a modern looking logo which looks to the future. A future that looks pretty bright in my opinion. Bring on 2012 and let’s all be there at the opening game against Carlton at the MCG roaring our support. Go Tiges!!
