Neville Crowe's legacy will continue to thrive at Tigerland, with the Richmond Bequest Society to be renamed to honour the late Club great.

Crowe embraced a number of roles at Richmond, including player, specialist coach, president, staff member and Club vice-patron.

As president, he famously spearheaded the Save Our Skins campaign in 1990, which saved the club from extinction by raising over $1 million.

On Tuesday afternoon (December 11), at the annual Bequest Society Christmas Lunch, Club President Peggy O'Neal praised Crowe’s unwavering commitment to the club and his desire for Richmond to flourish.

“There is no greater example of that dedication and unswerving commitment to the Club than that manifested by the late Neville Crowe,” O'Neal said.

“A former player and President, Neville simply refused to let this Club wither on the vine. The Save our Skins campaign is now folklore.”

O'Neal thanked Crowe’s wife Valy, one of the patrons of the Bequest Society, for her invaluable contribution to the Club.

The Society aims to advance and develop the club, providing enjoyment for Tiger fans today, and for generations to come.

Tuesday’s annual Bequest Society Lunch provided the opportunity for the Club to celebrate the festive season with society members and guests.

“When we think about this Bequest Society, that success is at the heart of its purpose … to advance this Club on and off the field to create memories for future generations,” O'Neal said.

“As players, coaches, administrators, members and supporters, our collective job is to build a Club that has the best chance of succeeding. And that journey allows us to share in wonderful memories that will live forever.”
