Speaking in his capacity as a co-host on the Club’s new weekly podcast show, ‘Talking Tigers’, ‘Richo’ sang Martin’s praises following the young gun’s dominant NAB Cup performance against Geelong at Simonds Stadium last Saturday.
“I don’t think it matters if we pump Dustin up because I don’t think he’s the sort of player who worries about that sort of stuff . . . he’s going to play like that no matter what. So, we can pump Dusty up and he’s not going to get carried away with it,” Richo said.
“Geez, he was good on the weekend. He can kick either foot . . . he picked up one ball there on the members’ grandstand side at Geelong, was on his left foot on the boundary, and he kicked it 35 metres to Brad Miller leading out . . . didn’t have to break stride.
“When you’ve got a player, who can go either side of his body, it makes it pretty hard to stop, there’s no doubt about that.
“The thing that I love about Dusty the most is he’s a goalkicker. They’re hard to find. Goalkicking midfielders are what you want at a footy club.
“You don’t need to have 30 touches. If you have 20-25, and you kick three or four (goals), that’s what they want.
“He’s one right out of the box . . . he’s the midfielder who can kick five goals, and not many midfielders can do that. Dusty can kick goals.
“He’s making a pretty good fist of it in his first three years . . .” blog comments powered by Disqus
