Tigerland paid homage today to 94-year-old Harold Coutts, who has been a Richmond Football Club member for an incredible 84 consecutive years!

Harold, the longest-standing member in the Club’s history, made the trip from his home in Tecoma to Punt Road, along with wife, Joan, to see how much the place has changed over the years and to watch the Tigers train.

He was delighted to have a face-to-face chat with star forward Matthew Richardson, who he had previously spoken to over the phone in a special segment on SEN’s ‘Morning Glory’ breakfast program a few weeks ago.

Just before the training session started, Richmond coach Terry Wallace invited Harold out on to the hallowed Punt Road Oval turf to meet the entire playing squad.

Harold proudly told the boys how long he’d supported the mighty Tigers, and they responded with a rousing reception for the man who was born when Richmond was into just its sixth season in the then VFL competition.

At the age of 10, Harold took out his first Richmond membership and, 84 years on, his passion and commitment to the Tiger cause burns strongly within.
