Welcome back Richmond
Brett Deledio signed on the dotted line for five years – he’ll be at the Richmond Football Club until the end of 2017. This will effectively make him a Tiger fo
Unquestionable commitment from Lids.
Although I don’t want to jump the gun and claim we’re in for a long period of sustained success, it’s certainly not a coincidence that one after another everybody and anybody with significance has signed on at Tigerland. Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin & Jack Riewoldt all signed lucrative contract extensions. They were followed closely by Reece Conca, Dylan Grimes & Jake Bachelor, and it was only just last week both Tyrone Vickery and Damien Hardwick committed to the club.
Brett Deledio’s signing is a significant coup for the club because it wraps up an unprecedented summer of excellent work by the Richmond board.
Membership - Has just surpassed 44,000. We’re only behind Collingwood, Hawthorn & West Coast in the membership tally.
Sponsorship - Bingle has extended their partnership with Richmond. Kyoto has also joined the team.
Preseason - Impressive preseason form has resulted in Richmond defeating both Hawthorn & Geelong.
Signings - It’s amazing we’ve been able to retain all our top stars throughout this expansion club period of difficulty in the AFL. We’ve also managed to sign Ross Smith from Hawthorn, and make smart choices at the draft & trade table.
This Thursday night will be an absolute cracker. We’ll be able to assess our improvement against an arch-rival. However the dividends of having a solid business sector to the club that makes the right decisions will be invaluable for this Richmond era, kudos to Gary March, Brendon Gale, Craig Cameron and everybody at Tigerland that’s solidifying our stability off the field.
It’s a leap in the right direction.
