Richmond star Brett Deledio has had to find room in his trophy cabinet for another league football award.

Deledio was a worthy recipient of the Yiooken Award for best-on-ground in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime game.

He gathered 35 possessions (including seven inside-50 entries, five clearances and 13 score involvements) and had an equal game-high 10 tackles in the Tigers’ 19-point loss to Essendon.

The 25-year-old adds the Yiooken to the AFL’s Rising Star award he won in 2005, his two Jack Dyer Medals of 2008-09, and the Ian Stewart Medal he won for his best afield performance against St Kilda in Round 2 of the 2011 season.

Given his excellent form during the first third of this season, in his return to a midfield role, it wouldn’t surprise in the slightest to see Deledio press strongly for further football honors before the year is out.

After eight rounds, Deledio is averaging 28 disposals per game and he is ranked equal first in the competition for total inside-50 entries, with 50.
