Richmond’s star full-forward Jack Riewoldt continued his impressive recent goalkicking run against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium last Friday night, in his 100th league game.

Riewoldt’s match-winning eight-goal haul took his overall tally in his past three full matches against the Saints to 21 goals.

He kicked six goals in the Round 11, 2010 encounter at Etihad Stadium and followed that up later in the season at the same venue (Round 21), with seven goals.

That seven-goal effort earned him his inaugural Ian Stewart Medal, which is awarded annually to the player voted best afield in the Richmond-St Kilda contest.  He took out his second Ian Stewart Medal last Friday night following his dominant display up forward.

In the only clash between the two teams last year, which took place in Round 2 at the MCG, Riewoldt was subbed off early in the first quarter (without having scored a goal) after falling heavily from a marking attempt.

But, with his eight goals on Friday night, Riewoldt now has a combined total of 23 goals versus St Kilda, which is his equal-highest return against any opposition side.  He has also booted 23 against Carlton and West Coast.

The eight-goal performance was his second-highest in his 100-game league career, his best being 10 versus West Coast in Round 12 of the 2010 season.

Riewoldt now has 62 goals from his 21 appearances at Etihad Stadium.

It’s also interesting to note that ‘Jumping Jack’, in his first 50 games of AFL football, kicked 65 goals.  In his next 50 games, the exciting spearhead has notched 163 goals and become one of the premier key forwards of the competition.
