VFL and development coach Xavier Clarke provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday morning's scratch match against Melbourne.
Callum Coleman-Jones
"He hit the scoreboard again and is in good form. He's a big boy, he can play ruck and he also can play forward as well. His development has been fantastic and he'll continue putting his hand up for selection."
Ivan Soldo
"He was very consistent across the game. He snuck forward again and kicked a goal, which he's loving doing with 13 v 13. He played a really good game."
Patrick Naish
"Continued to win the ball and with a lot of space (with 13 v 13) he found a lot of possessions. He hit the scoreboard again and played his role."
Shai Bolton
"Played midfield most of the game while rotating forward. He won the ball around the stoppages which was great. We know Shai's work in traffic is pretty good and I thought his tackle pressure was good as well."
Oleg Markov
"Was on fire early and kicked two great goals from getting over the back with his pace. When he does get that space and can use his pace, he's very damaging. He's attacking the ball well at the moment and is playing consistently."
Thomson Dow
"Missed last week due to a stomach bug. He played okay, he still had impact throughout the game and played a bit of time up forward, which will be good for his development. He'll continue to learn our system and our structure."
Sydney Stack
"Played midfield pretty much the whole game and at times went to half-back. His tackle pressure was really good early, he had six tackles. It was great to see him do well in that part of his game and his ability to use the ball around contests was one of his biggest strengths."
Marlion Pickett
"Played half the game in the midfield and half the game down back. He laid eight tackles, his pressure around the ball was his biggest highlight. He had some really unbelievable passages of play, finding a teammate by foot either coming out of the back half or coming through the midfield."
Derek Eggmolesse-Smith
"Had a great game. I thought his game impact was really high playing across half-back. He plays the system really well and he got a lot of the ball. The beauty of Derek is he can make things happen when he gets the ball. He's a very good attacking half-back for us."
Jack Ross
"Played across half-back for the start of the game. Had a quieter game than usual. He copped a knock to the ribs and pushed through the game but it obviously had an impact. But he was cleared of any damage which is great."
Ben Miller
"Had to hold up the backline with Ryan Garthwaite not playing and Noah Balta playing AFL. He was our key down there and certainly held his own. I thought he played a pretty good game."
Fraser Turner
"Has been playing down back and definitely knows how to win the ball. He uses it well too. His game impact was high and he's also learning a new role down back which is great for him as well."
Hugo Ralphsmith
"Continued to play his role. He's certainly going to be a good player in the future, his run and ability is phenomenal for a young kid. He copped a corky early but that didn't stop him from getting up and down the ground and he was also rewarded with a goal."
