Dual Richmond premiership midfielder Kane Lambert celebrated his 100th AFL game milestone in grand style, producing a best-on-ground performance in last Sunday’s 27-point victory over Melbourne at the MCG.
Lambert bounced back brilliantly after a relatively quiet few weeks since the resumption of the 2020 season.
He had an equal game-high 27 disposals, five clearances, four intercepts, an equal game-high eight score involvements, 251 metres gained, took six marks, and kicked an equal game-high three goals.
That makes Lambert the only player in the AFL competition so far this season to have had 25-plus disposals and kicked at least three goals in a match, further highlighting just how good his display against the Demons was.
Lambert was rewarded for his superb showing with maximum votes in the prestigious 2020 AFL Coaches Association’s Champion Player Award.
Respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Simon Goodwin (Melbourne) gave Lambert 10 votes, while his talented young Tiger teammates Jack Higgins and Noah Balta received six votes apiece, with star key forward Tom Lynch picking up one vote.
