Star spearhead Jack Riewoldt believes new Richmond recruit Shaun Hampson will provide the Tigers’ line-up with a significant boost in 2014 and beyond.
Hampson, a 25-year-old, 201cm, 104kg ruckman, joined Richmond during the league’s October trade period following a 63-game career at Carlton over seven seasons.
“Shaun’s going to be really important for us going forward,” Riewoldt said.
“He’s that bigger sort of ruckman who’s played well against us.
“He’s probably been unlucky that he’s been at Carlton behind Matthew Kreuzer and Robert Warnock, who are both very good ruckmen in their own right.
“I’m really happy that he’s come to the Tigers.
“He’s in that right age bracket as a 25-year-old, which is the model for us . . . a player we feel can come in and have an impact straight away.”
