Over 160 people enjoyed the third and final Richmond in Business lunch for 2013, in the Maurice Rioli Room of the ME Bank Centre today.
Hosted by TV personality Hamish McLachlan, guests heard from speaker, The Hon. Lindsay Tanner, the former Federal Minister for Finance and Deregulation.
In his speech, Tanner gave great insight into life in Parliament, explaining how important it was for leaders to exercise good judgement and temperament, along with the need to bring people along on the business journey.
Tanner also entertained the crowd by sharing “Tanner’s Laws of Politics”, a humorous snapshot of ‘Politics 101’.
On what would have been Jack Dyer’s 100th birthday, Tanner spoke of Dyer’s leadership and stature in the community, and recounted how his father opened Citizens Park in Richmond with the Tiger legend many years ago.
The Richmond in Business program is supported by Jeep, Richmond’s joint-major sponsor, and was introduced at the start of the year, with the program’s members enjoying a series of three-course lunches with premium beverages throughout the year, in a relaxed sporting environment.
Guest speakers at previous Richmond in Business lunches this year includes Sir Rod Eddington, one of Australia’s most experienced and accomplished business leaders, and AFL Commissioner and sustainability adviser, Sam Mostyn.
The lunches also provided guests with an opportunity to network and connect, with many Richmond in Business members choosing to bring guests and clients along to the events.
