Richmond speedster Matt White is hoping the flying start he produced at Wangaratta last Saturday evening, will be the catalyst for bigger and better things from him in season 2013.

White kicked an inspirational supergoal just seconds into the Tigers' second round pre-season competition match against Essendon, and went on to be one of the team's best in the eight-point win, with 15 possessions, four marks, and two goals all-up.

Following a frustrating 2012 season, where he managed just seven appearances for Richmond, the 25-year-old veteran of 89 games has his sights firmly set on building on that performance, and cementing a regular senior berth in 2013.

"It was a good way to start it off (the supergoal against the Bombers) and it sort of set the tone for me for the rest of the game, apart from a little lapse in the third quarter's White told ˜Roar Vision'.

'I got to go for a couple of runs with the ball, which is also pretty good, so I was happy.'

White is keen to make the potentially damaging run-and-carry aspect of his game a key focus this season.

"I started to do it towards the end of last year and I really want to bring it into my game this year . . . a lot more speed, a lot more dynamic movements through that half-forward role and, hopefully, finish off with a few more goals, like I did on the weekend" he said.
