Richmond midfielder Reece Conca believes the Tigers have set a sound platform for the rest of the pre-season series, after their first serious hitout of the 2013 campaign on Friday night.

The Tigers defeated Melbourne by 15 points, and lost by four points to North Melbourne, in what was an encouraging al-round performance.

"The team went really well, and we're looking to build from that and bring some good form into the season, and get some wins on the board,” Conca said at Richmond’s family day on Sunday.

"We didn't have our full 100 per cent team out there [on Friday night], but the way we went about it was good.

"The style of play, the things we've been incorporating at training; we showed some signs in the game.

"Now we're looking to build on that."

More than 7000 fans packed Burnley Park to see their favourite players, and Conca feels their support has never been stronger.

"The fans have been good every year since I've been here, but this year seems to be the biggest," he said.

"There's a good vibe around, so we're sort of feeding off that and it's really good.”

The Tigers head to Wangaratta for Round 2 of the pre-season competition, where they face Essendon on Saturday, March 2.

The match will be broadcast on Fox Footy, with the first bounce at 5.10pm.
