Richmond Football Club has appointed Dan Richardson as its new General Manager of Football.
Richardson takes over from Craig Cameron, who resigned recently to join the horse racing industry as CEO of BC3 Thoroughbreds.
For more than a decade, Richardson has been a mainstay at leading Australian sports marketing and management company Elite Sports Properties (ESP), where he was an associate director and ran the company’s football division. He is regarded as one of the most accomplished player agents in the AFL.
Join the Tiger Army in 2013. The Roar is Back.
Richardson also has a strong association with Old Xaverians in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, where he was a six-time premiership player, coach, and now a life member.
He is the son of three-time Richmond premiership player, Tiger coach, former Club president and Hall of Fame inductee, Barry Richardson.
“We’re thrilled to have Dan as our new General Manager of Football, at what is an exciting time for the Richmond Football Club,” Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.
“Dan is an outstanding character and is highly respected within the football industry. Further, his talent and experience will be of great benefit to our Club.
“He is committed to helping the Richmond Football Club achieve success and we look forward to having him as a part of our team.”
ESP CEO Craig Kelly said he fully supported Richardson’s move.
“ESP congratulates Richmond on gaining the services of an outstanding person, who is well suited to the job,” Kelly said.
“Dan and ESP have worked together during this process and we have supported Dan’s move to a new challenge in the AFL industry. Dan has been with ESP for in excess of 10 years, and we wish him all the best in his new role.”
Richardson is expected to commence in the role before the end of March.
