A fast start was a key focus for star Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt going into last Thursday night’s crucial clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
The Tigers had been slow out of the blocks in three of their first four games of the season, and paid the price as a result, losing to Gold Coast, the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood.

Riewoldt was determined to do what he could to help the Tigers’ team gain the early initiative against the Lions.
The dual Coleman Medallist took three marks in the opening five minutes of the contest, kicked the first goal, had eight disposals to quarter-time, and then booted his second goal at the start of the second term.
He finished with four goals to be one of the Tigers’ best in their 43-point win.

“I set myself to try and have an impact early, which I thought I did,” Riewoldt told ‘Roar Vision’ in a post-match interview.
“Was a little bit quiet with us going a little bit quiet in the second quarter, and then just tried to play my role.
“I really felt like I had to step up tonight because the Club was in a tough position.
“By no means are we out of the tough position. We’re still 2-3 and we want to get back to even the ledger and start to get ahead of it.
“In the end, it was some good work from the midfielders, and I was lucky enough to kick four (goals).”
