Richmond star Brett Deledio has scored a perfect 10 in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year Round 21 voting.
Deledio received 10 votes for the significant role he played in the Tigers’ 10-point victory over Adelaide last Saturday night.
The dual Jack Dyer Medallist finished the gripping contest with 29 disposals, including 14 contested possessions, five inside-50s, four clearances, two goals and 10 score involvements all-up.
Respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Brenton Sanderson (Adelaide) had no hesitation in awarding Deledio 10 out of 10 – the first time this season he has managed the perfect score in the prestigious coaches award.
Rising Richmond star Brandon Ellis continued his rise up the award’s leaders’ board, picking up eight votes for his top-class, game-high, 31-disposal display, which included 13 contested possessions, seven rebound-50s, five clearances and four inside-50s.
Ellis now has a total of 59 votes in the award this season – the most by any Richmond player. He is 14 ahead of the Tigers’ captain Trent Cotchin and fellow young gun Dustin Martin.
Cotchin collected five votes for his inspirational 28-disposal performance against the Crows.
Impressive Tiger newcomer Anthony Miles was given coaches votes for the fifth time in just 10 games this season (two votes), while Shane Edwards was the other Richmond player to poll (one vote).
Adelaide pair Sam Jacobs (three votes) and Brad Crouch (one vote) rounded out the voting from the Round 21 clash at Adelaide Oval.
