Four Richmond players polled votes in the Round 7 AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for their efforts against Geelong at the MCG last Sunday.
The four are all developing, young players – Reece Conca, David Astbury, Dustin Martin and Nick Vlastuin.
Conca, 21, was the highest-polling Tiger, receiving four votes for his 28-disposal display (10 contested possessions) through the midfield.
Astbury, 23, continued his impressive form at full-back, collecting three votes for his fine job in keeping powerful Cats’ key forward Tom Hawkins goalless.
Martin, 22, was rewarded for his 28-disposal midfield performance (nine contested possessions) with two votes, while Vlastuin, 20, picked up one vote for his 22-disposal game (nine contested possessions).
