The collaboration between Richmond’s AFL and VFL programs will be crucial to the shaping of next season’s VFL playing list.
The Tigers’ inaugural season as a standalone VFL team was a success off field, with Tim Clarke and his assistants working closely with the Club’s AFL line coaches.
Attention has turned to improving the VFL playing list for 2015, and Richmond will primarily be on the lookout for players who fit into the Tigers’ style of play.
“I go and speak to Damien about what we want our VFL and AFL side to look like – what type of player you want,” Clarke told Matthew Richardson on Roar Vision.
“There’s no point going to get a player to come and play for us, and then Damien saying I don’t want that type of player playing the Richmond style.
“We’ve got to be aligned with what the senior coach wants, and the expectations, then we go and try and find the best fit.
“Our main drawcard is always character. If we can get a good guy in who can also lead and play some good footy, it’s really going to help our boys.
“We need to find the right guys who can make our players on the Richmond list better.
Richmond finished the 2014 VFL season with six wins, one draw and 11 losses.
