Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has been tapping into his new ruckman Shaun Hampson’s knowledge of his old team Carlton, ahead of tonight’s Round 2 blockbuster at the MCG.
Hampson joined the Tigers during last year’s AFL trade period, following a 63-game career with the Blues across seven seasons, and is already capitalising on the greater opportunities at his new football home.
“We spent some time over summer getting some information out of him,” Hardwick said.

Hampson performed admirably in the opening round match against Gold Coast, as the team’s No. 1 ruckman, in the absence of the injured Ivan Maric.
Hardwick was suitably impressed with Hampson’s debut display in the Yellow and Black.
“There weren’t many shining lights last week, but there was definitely an advantage with him – his dominance out of the ruck – and we’ve just got to start to use him around the ground,” Hardwick said.
