VFL and development coach Xavier Clarke provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Wednesday night's scratch match against Collingwood.
Ryan Garthwaite
"'Garthy' was absolutely outstanding. He rarely gives up and his second and third efforts were his highlight. We love what he brings to the Club, he's a competitive beast and it's great to see him play to his strengths."
Bigoa Nyuon
"Continuing to learn the way we play as a defensive system. He's got some amazing attributes as an athlete and he'll be better off for the run and will continue to grow the way he has over the last four months."
Noah Balta
"It's been well-documented that he played a pretty good game, a well-rounded game. He defended really well, he did the simple things well which was pleasing and played his role which was great to see."
Ben Miller
"Ben complements our backline. He sees the way we play really well and helps out with great leadership. He certainly showed glimpses of what he can produce."
Jack Ross
"Was one of our better players of the night. He played majority of his time at half-back, a new role for him. He played really well, he won a lot of the ball and used it well. Also had stints in the midfield."
Derek Eggmolesse-Smith
"Showed some brilliant stuff on the half-back and on the wing. Has got some great skills. Sees the game really well around contests and uses the ball well."
Fraser Turner
"Played wing and half-back. Has benefitted from a full pre-season and put on a bit of size, so he'll continue to grow in that role. Can win the ball and uses it well too."
Toby Nankervis
"We know what we're going to get from 'Nank'. He certainly provided us a contest around the ruck and also up forward. We wrapped him up at three-quarter time but as the game went on, he had more of an impact around the ground."
Riley Collier-Dawkins
"We saw glimpses of what Riley can do really well, that breaking impact and using his strong body. He played a bit of time up forward as well."
Thomson Dow
"A standout. He's an absolute athlete when it comes to his running ability, being able to get from contest to contest. He's tough for a kid not carrying that much weight and won a lot of the footy."
Luke English
"His work rate from contest to contest is his biggest strength and he continues to burrow in which is what we love about him."
Patrick Naish
"Played on the wing and won a lot of the ball. Used his kicking and skills to his strength. Had time at half-back and also drifted forward at times. He is one who can put his hand up and play a role at AFL level without a doubt."
Hugo Ralphsmith
"Played majority of the game up forward. He is still learning the system and has some great attributes. He's got a great mark and abilities, and will continue to grow as a player."
Jake Aarts
"Great to see him run around and compete at the contests. Spent some time around the ball in the midfield. We love the competitiveness he brings and his ability to hunt the opposition and put forward pressure on."
Callum Coleman-Jones
"Took some unbelievable marks around the ground. We know he can be a very good player for us, he can ruck, he can go forward, and he certainly has a great engine. He produced some really nice things."
Mabior Chol
"Played a really good game. His ability now to be able to compete in the contest, jump at the ball and take a mark or bring the ball to ground, has been a highlight. We also know that when the ball does hit the ground, he's very good at ground level as a tall."
Oleg Markov
"Played majority of the game up forward. Had some really good passages of play when he was one-on-one with his direct opponent, bodied him out and used the back space. Once he gets the ball in his hands, he's hard to catch."
