Richmond has won consecutive games for the first time this season, defeating Brisbane by 25 points in front of 34,560 fans at the MCG.
The Tigers scrapped it out all day, with the conditions making it difficult to produce clean football, but they led from start to finish, despite a Lions run in the third quarter.
Richmond managed to make the most of rare opportunities, in a game that was played around the midfield, with Ty Vickery and Reece Conca particularly creating goals out of nothing in the third term through outstanding individual efforts.
Vickery kicked the first two goals of the game in the first three minutes, and he finished with four goals for the day and a goal assist in the last quarter, to Jack Riewoldt, which sealed the victory.
Alex Rance played a sensational defensive game on Brisbane spearhead Daniel Merrett, keeping him to just six disposals, two marks and one behind for the game.
The midfield trio of Trent Cotchin (37 disposals, five clearances, two goal assists), Brandon Ellis (33 disposals) and Dustin Martin (34 disposals) continued their outstanding recent form.
Shane Edwards arguably produced the best game of his career, finishing with 27 disposals, a team and career-high nine clearances, six inside 50s and two goals.
Despite the win - the Tigers’ fifth of the season – coach Damien Hardwick described the team’s effort as “poor”.
"All credit to Brisbane, they came to play, but I thought we were poor today," he said.
"We overused the ball through hands which was really disappointing. I don't think we played anyway near the standard that we require."
Richmond will face Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium next Sunday afternoon.
